My first serious illustrations of imaginary creatures were for a spring 2024 article, Fantastic Animals of the Northeast, that I wrote for the Northern Woodlands magazine. Since then, using observational drawing to ground inspiration for imaginary animals and chimeras has become a teaching theme for a whole series of classes with hosts including the Harvard Museum of Natural History, North Branch Nature Center, and the Next Charter School.
